What is the Difference Between Collision and Comprehensive Coverage?
Collision coverage helps pay for repairs to your car after an accident such as:
-
crashing into another car
-
crashing into an object
-
rolling over
Comprehensive coverage pays for repairs to your car when it is damaged by events that are not accident related. These may include:
-
fire
-
vandalism
-
hitting an animal
-
weather related
These coverages are not mandated by the state. However, they may be required in order to obtain a loan on your vehicle.
A deductible is generally required when you make a claim towards either type of coverage.
